Don't Be A TripodPAD.png

Be the storyteller, not the tripod

Nobody wants to be told what to shoot, where to stand, and how to put things together. Nobody wants to be a tripod. Your perspective is the single most important thing you can offer a client. Muse helps you develop your perspective by understanding the core storytelling principles while showing you how to express your creative vision with rock-solid conviction.

Muse helps you turn your clients objective into a powerful story that delivers results

Muse will help you clarify your client's intent, and then guide you in strategically developing content that delivers on that goal. Three process milestones ensure all stakeholders remain clear on what's happening and why.

It’s Brilliant!...the Muse process guides you in finding a great story without curbing the creativity and authenticity each unique human being brings to the process. I can tell this is the work of people who both understand both storytelling and the potential for online learning.

Commonly Asked Questions

  • What is the Muse Storytelling Process?

Muse is a proven process for finding and crafting remarkable stories. By 'process' we simply mean that it's a framework for how to approach storytelling.

The Muse Process is based on the 4 Pillars of Story: People, Places, Purpose, and Plot. Maximizing each Pillar is the key to developing a story that is engaging, felt, remembered, and compels action.

The Muse Process will take you through all 4 Pillars of Story. It will show you exactly how to make the most of each Pillar in every story you tell. You'll be left feeling empowered by knowing exactly where to start, what you're looking for, and how to take each step with extreme intention.

  • Who is the Muse Process for?

At its core, Muse is about story—about using a process that will help you structure an engaging plot with remarkable characters that will truly connect your audience. And story is relevant to anyone who wants to create a connection, be that a photographer, writer, or filmmaker, no matter if you're a hobbyist or expert.

Our background is in events, so at its release Muse best helps those working with real people. While creatives who create narratives stories will definitely benefit from Muse and its approach to story structure, it will be a bit before we add even more modules specifically related to that genre and so in the early days please realize that while MUSE applies to narrative work, we aren’t making those connections as directly for you.

Muse currently shines when put to use by creatives who work with documentaries, commercial work, and weddings.

  • What is the difference between the storytelling courses?

You can find everything you need to know about our storytelling courses, and the differences between them, by clicking right here. In summary, there are three main options for our storytelling courses:

    • The Complete Muse Course ($327 lifetime access): The complete Muse course builds on Storytelling Fundamentals with many more advanced storytelling principles. It includes Applications for Commercial Work and Applications for Weddings. It’s intended for creative professionals who craft stories regularly. Click here to learn more about The Complete Muse Course.

    • The Entire Muse Library ($397 lifetime access): You can gain access to every storytelling course we have by purchasing The Entire Muse LIbrary.

If you still have questions about the course that’s the best fit, you can reach to the Muse team directly at [email protected].

  • What is Storybuilder?

Storybuilder is our collaborative storytelling app designed to help you build stronger stories in less time. It does this by breaking each story down into its core elements and developing them in a way that’s accessible to every member of the team.

As you add your story elements, Storybuilder helps you go deeper in developing your characters, clarifying your purpose, discovering opportunities for unexpected places, and ensuring you have all of the critical elements needed for a strong plot structure.

With Storybuilder, you can go from an idea to a storyboard PDF in minutes. Your team can leave feedback or ask questions inside the software, and everyone can build their own story drafts. Now everybody—from creative director to editor—can see how the story comes together.

  • *What if I am not happy? What if I want a refund?

Creatives around the world have achieved amazing results with the Muse process. That being said, it’s not a silver bullet or magic pill. It’s a process that helps you develop your thinking about story and gives you the tools to reliably bring those stories to life. It works when you put in the work.

If Muse is not delivering results for you, you can take us up on our “go deep or go home (with a refund)” policy. Contact us within two weeks of your purchase and we’ll refund you in full. No hassles.

  • Why should I trust the Muse Process?

The Muse process has been developed with a decade of real-world storytelling experience by the Stillmotion team. Our stories have won 5 Emmys and we’ve had the amazing opportunity to work with some of the biggest brands out there. Folks like AT&T, Apple, Callaway, NFL, MLB, Toyota, Cartoon Network and more.

But more than just storytellers, we’ve long been educators as well. We’ve conducted over 100 workshops across the globe. We’ve taught for Canon, Vimeo, and YouTube. We’ve done years of research in the fields of psychology, anthropology, sociology, and neuroscience—and we’ve worked with pioneers in the science of storytelling and virality, like Paul Zak and Jonah Berger— to ensure that what we teach is backed not just in experience, but by science as well.

We believe education is a massive responsibility. The opportunity to add to somebody's thinking might just be one of the greatest ways we can help each other. And that means that the ideas need to be both informative and informed. They need to be engaging. And they need to be structured in a way that supports learners in truly understanding the core concepts along with why they are true. In this way, it doesn’t matter which medium of storytelling you live in, learners may see a myriad of other ways these concepts can be applied in their daily life. After all, story is everywhere.

The Muse process is built on the idea that we must guide the heart to move the mind. That we need to move people emotionally if we want to change their perspective and/or behavior. This concept was presented at the United Nations in 2014 to a group of global business leaders. And Muse was created to be a step-by-step clear and tangible way to find and build your stories in a way that will move your audience and bring them to your purpose, whether that’s a product, service, issue, or idea.

But more than all of that, watch our stories. They were built with nothing more than heaps of passion and a super clear process. If you enjoy stories like Old Skool, The Final Stitch, or Soar, then you’ll love learning the process that brought them to life.

  • How will Muse transform my storytelling?

When you learn the Muse Process you also gain a deep understanding of story. That understanding, when paired with a step-by-step process, can be a radical shift in your storytelling.

It means you’ll have incredible clarity about how to bring your story to life, what needs to be done next, and what it will turn out like.

It means you’ll have tons of confidence that if you listen, if you take your time to build the story, you will reputably and reliably end up with a story that moves your audience.

It means you’ll be able to move your audience in a much deeper way. Rather than getting distracted or not finishing your video, you’ll create stories that people will want to click play again as soon as they’re finished.

Having a process also helps you gain more creative control than you may have ever imagined. You’ll gain the tools to understand your client's’ goals and what they want to achieve so that you can be in charge of how to make that happen rather than being told what to shoot and how to do it.

Better results on a consistent basis along with a clear process that you can share with your clients means you can also expect to raise your rates. And because your stories are moving and intentional, you’ll have a much easier time getting clients at those rates.

And, very importantly, you can close the gap between those ideas you’ve been dreaming of and the stories that you end up bringing to life. You can create work you’re proud of. Work that you feel lives up to it’s potential, and what you thought it could be.

  • How long does Muse take to learn?

We expect any one of our starter courses to take you an evening, whereas the Complete Muse course may take you anywhere from 10 to 15 hours to complete. We suggest spreading that time out over four to eight weeks. If you're a math whiz, you've already figured out that that means 1-2 modules every week.

Each module, complete with tutorial, case-studies, quizzes, and applications, takes about 60-90 minutes to complete. How many notes you take, and if you do all the case studies helps determine whether you are on the high or low end of that.

We HIGHLY recommend doing one module at a time so that you can learn the core concepts then see them applied right away. .
